Wikipedia in Afrikaans

The Wikipedia in Afrikaans, is the first Wikipedia in an African language that has passed the 10.000 number of articles. I am really happy that finally there is an African language that reached this level, I hope that many more Afican languages will be able to follow where Afrikaans is leading..

Thanks,

Does your definition of "African language" include Arabic? I'll give you that Arabic has a "worldlier" status, but that still makes the statement odd to me.

Classical Arabic is a language that has its center in the Middle East and as such it is not an African language to me. As such it is similar to English, French and Portuguese.

Afrikaans is not Just a African language, actually it is a European language commonly spoken by people in South Africa and Namibia (or something) It's a dialect from Dutch, the language spoken in The Netherlands. Greets, Matthias92 (on nl, en, af wikipedia and commons.) (See [http://af.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gebruiker:Matthias92 Here] (if it works))

Afrikaans is only spoken in Africa, it has been recognised as a language in the ISO-639-1. It is not a dialect of Dutch; modern Dutch and Afrikaans share the same roots.

Given the message of my blog, when you are of the opinion that Afrikaans is not an African language, the situation of African language is even more dire.
Thanks,
