My practise is not server side security. Not providing a service like OpenID means that the users you serve do not have the security option that does serve them well.

Most people re-use the same password on many websites. What OpenID provides is having only one website where this password is known.

It is unrealistic to think that people know where they have a profile let alone that they reset their password when needed.

Security has more attack vectors then YOUR server directly.

I don't feel that OpenID provides additional security, but instead provides convenience.

If anything OpenID is slightly less secure, since we are spreading the authentication surface across every OpenID server available. Additionally, we'd of course want to ensure that we still allow people to log in directly through our sites and still allow password resets, otherwise an OpenID provider going away could permanently lock out users. This means we have two attack surfaces per user rather than one.

Not sure where you got the 65 number from, but that's not correct. I assume you may have misinterpreted this thread on translatewiki.net.

The current threshold is completion of the most often used messages in MediaWiki, some 491 translations. For technical reasons, these can be any 491 translated messages, or 18% of all non-optional, non-ignored messages in MediaWiki core.

Unfortunately Farmafripedia is under the CC-BY-NC-SA non commercial licence. This may make it easier to use some UN materials - many of which are "free to use for non-commercial purposes" - but it does mean the materials cannot be used by african farmers to make money (probably - no one seems to know what NC really means).

I have done some work with Appropedia.com which covers the same ground and does seem to be a bit more active than Farmafripedia and is under the same license as Wikipedia - CC-BY-SA - so it can share materials.

Thank you for blogging about this! It's a very important topic, and on English Wikipedia and Commons, the work on agriculture is very much incomplete.

One of the issues that much information is locked up either in hard to navigate databases like the FAO's, or it is contained in extremely expensive textbooks for higher education agricultural colleges.

In any case, I would be very happy to see and participate in a project to improve Wikipedia content about farming, especially for Africa and other developing countries. We need a WLM for food and ag!

I should clarify that while Android itself supports it (the wikipedia app works for sah), the build system does not seem to support having resources localized to languages with three character codes. String localizations are provided to android in the form of values- directories, and this is what fails for 3 letter codes. Very probably a bug in the build system, rather than underlying android itself.

I've reported this to the developers group, and haven't heard back yet. Will file a bug in appropriate place if I don't hear back in a bit.
