Both #MediaWiki and #FUDforum are getting ready for a new release. In the life of a software application, these are the important moments; it is when the last bug fix, the final localisation are included in the software. They are what makes software great maybe even superb.

At translatewiki.net, an announcement is made in the site notice. So far, the sitenotice is nice, small and unobtrusive. Well, actually that is a mistake; it should be bold, in your face, grabbing you by the short and curlies and GET YOUR ATTENTION.. ehm...

Ok, so the message is: MediaWiki and Fudforum need your urgent attention and, we may experiment with more prominent site notices.

Two bonuses for FUDforum

FUDforum, one of the applications localised at translatewiki.net, announced that they provide a bonus to the first two people who do a full localisation for their language. I quote their rules:

1. Pick a language that has less than 50% of its messages translated from here (new languages can be added).
2. Translate the remaining messages on the TranslateWiki website (let me know if you need help to get started).
3. When done, announce your claim to the bounty here.
4. The first two valid claims will be awarded US$100. 
5. Our decision if final. We will have full discretion to disqualify anyone who in our opinion acts outside the intentions of this bounty.

FUDforum

One of our localisers at translatewiki.net asked if it would be possible to have FUDforum localised at translatewiki.net. There was an initial review some issues were indicated among them support for UTF-8 and it was even briefly considered to run translatewiki.net for FUDforum alone.

Naudefj indicated that he is willing to do most of the work and as theimmediate issues have been resolved, we now have another project that is supported at translatewiki.net.

At this moment the statistics show no activity, but a lot of localisation work has already been done as support for almost 30 languages is already available. Localisations in new languages are very much wanted.

PS The first localisations have been added while I was writing this blog entry :)
