Cropping images to get useful illustrations

Details of a picture often illustrate a subject better then the whole picture. Once this notion settles in, cropping becomes something that you do. The easiest way to crop is to select an area with a proper screen saving tool.

A friend of mine told me that I should apply the "rule of thirds". He also told me that it is dead easy using the Gimp. All it takes he said, was watching this Youtube video and, so can you.

As I was lectured, I learned that another benefit is that in this way I will not lose any of the resolution of a picture. Having learned a lesson, I am quite happy to relay all this knew found wisdom to you.

the things you do please your audience
Thanks,
