#SEO and #Commons

#Wikipedia articles can often be found on the first page of the results of search engines. It is one of the secrets of its success. Pictures from Commons are not found particularly not when they are not used in articles.

A good example are the pictures of "cashew sprouts". The bucket full of them that features on my blog can be found but not the pictures from Commons. With over 10 million pictures Commons can compete with photo stock companies. However, the marketing of Commons or more precise its search engine optimisation is in need of some clever lads or lassies who make sure that this great resource is done justice when looking for a picture.
Thanks,
